As a leader, are you able to read what’s going on?
Maxwell offers these directional signposts.
Leaders are readers of their situation. This is the ability to dial in on the atmosphere of your organization. It doesn’t require financial analytics. It’s about tapping into your gut and grasping reality before getting all of the facts.
Leaders are readers of trends. This is the wherewithal to step back from the present and grasp not only where the company has been, but also where it is going.
Leaders are readers of their resources. Leaders are on a different wavelength when it comes to resources. It’s about engaging people and resources to help the entire organization instead of their individual effort.
Leaders are readers of people. Leaders know when people are for you or against you. And they’re always working towards influencing people to follow. Because if they’re not, then they’re not leading.
Leaders are readers of themselves. They’re aware of their strengths, weaknesses, skills, talents and blind spots. They know what they need to do to gain followers and move forward.
Maxwell’s advice falls under what he calls the Law of Intuition: Leaders evaluate everything with a leadership bias. This simply means that leaders draw upon their leadership intuition and it informs everything they do.
