Whenever I leave the house for an overnight stay anywhere, I pack some pens, pencils, writing paper, journal and books. If I am with the family, I get up early and leave the room. This past week we stayed at a resort where I couldn't find a comfortable place to write. So, instead of writing in my journal, I made notes in the book I was reading. Now this book will ever be synonymous with my family and the time we spent together at this resort.

I do the same thing on vacations, which I don't get very often anymore. But when I was working at a pants factory as a payroll clerk, 3 of my co-workers went on a summer vacation together. The one year we went to Hawaii. I wrote down everything we did daily, and I even have the menu they gave us on the flight. To this day, they still call me to see what we did and what place it happened at. We traveled for 2 weeks in California, and of course, I journeled everything. Also, I used to pick up one of those little calendar notebooks and post things I did in them too. They have them for free at our drugstores. It was a great way and still is a great way to remember things.
