To move forward we must innovate...and innovate...and innovate.
So, in the last week I've been in six airports. For some of you this is akin to hopping in your car and driving to work - no big deal. Not so for me. Atlanta was nuts! I felt like a cow being prodded along in the slaughter line. And the luggage carousels? Well, let me just leave you with this: Nine-hundred carp in a five-foot kiddy pool fighting over two pieces of bread.
Design has invaded every nook and cranny of the market place...with the exception of luggage. For every one piece of colored luggage, I counted thirty black ones. Not only is the variation of color pleasing aesthetically, there is also a huge practical consideration: Differentiation. How easy would it be to spot a psychedelic-colored suitcase?
Of course, if I were to use the luggage that Rosemary and I got over thirty years ago, I'd have no problem spotting it. Green, 70's style, hard suitcases. Ohhhh, the visual is only overwhelmed by my long hair, platform shoes, dress bell bottoms and silk shirts. Ohhhh, the pain :-)
I think there'd be a pretty decent market for luggage with some design appeal and maybe even personalization.
